Ingestion of Lloyd’s List Intelligence data brings maritime intelligence into Blackdot’s investigations and intelligence platform, Videris, enabling access to vessel and trade-related data alongside wider OSINT sources, and enhances investigative workflows across maritime, sanctions and financial crime use cases.
Cambridge, UK; 02/02/2026: Blackdot Solutions, a leading provider of advanced intelligence and investigations software, has today announced the integration of maritime data from Lloyd’s List Intelligence, the trusted source for maritime data and intelligence, into the Videris investigation platform.
The integration brings Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s maritime dataset, including vessel tracking, ownership information and risk indicators, into Videris. This enables users to access specialist maritime intelligence alongside wider open-source and commercial data sources - including corporate records, adverse media, publicly available social media, and dark web content - in a single investigative platform.
This comes at a critical time for maritime compliance. As sanctions enforcement intensifies, as seen with the recent action against vessels linked to the Russian ‘shadow fleet’, vessels involved in high-risk trades are adopting increasingly sophisticated methods to disguise their movements, identities and ownership—including AIS manipulation, fraudulent vessel identities, flag hopping and layers of opaque corporate structures. Enforcement authorities are consequently looking beyond the vessel itself to the wider networks of owners, managers, financiers and intermediaries enabling its activity. Investigators therefore need to connect maritime intelligence with corporate, ownership and open-source data to uncover hidden exposure and understand the full risk surrounding a vessel.
“In financial crime and sanctions investigations, the risk rarely sits with the vessel itself - it lies in the ownership structures, individuals and networks behind it, which are often deliberately obscured. Until now, much of the relevant maritime data has sat separately from the corporate records, adverse media and other intelligence sources investigators rely on, making those connections difficult and time-consuming to establish. By integrating Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s data into Videris, we are helping customers understand maritime risk in the context of everything else they know, enabling them to identify and evidence the links that matter faster and with greater confidence.”
Stuart Clarke, CEO, Blackdot Solutions
“Maritime risk is evolving rapidly, driven by changing sanctions, deceptive shipping practices, increasingly complex trading patterns and geopolitical instability. Reliable analysis depends on having access to accurate, timely maritime intelligence underpinned by deep industry expertise. The embedding of our data into Videris will make that intelligence available to a wider range of investigators at the point where they need it, helping organisations incorporate a trusted maritime perspective into their investigations and respond more effectively to emerging compliance and financial crime risks.”
Waqas Samad, CEO, Lloyd’s List Intelligence
The integration supports use cases including maritime risk investigations, sanctions-related analysis, enhanced due diligence processes, and corporate and financial crime investigations involving maritime activity. By bringing this data into the same environment as their other sources, investigators can move from a vessel of interest to the entities, ownership structures and networks associated with it without switching between tools or reconciling data manually.
Videris is used by Financial Intelligence Units, law enforcement, financial services compliance teams and corporate risk professionals to support open-source intelligence investigations, including entity mapping, risk analysis, and structured reporting with full audit trails.
