Location

Hybrid. You must be prepared to come into the office a minimum of once a week, and when requested.

About the role

As our Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in managing our engineering team, working in collaboration with our CTO. You’ll be responsible for ensuring smooth collaboration, driving technical excellence, and fostering a productive and positive team environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, to ensure processes are implemented to ensure projects/releases are delivered on time and meet the highest standards.

The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator and be able to adapt their style to motivate and obtain buy in from both technical and non-technical audiences. You will have a strong background in delivering software products with remote teams, ideally SaaS, within the software industry and a proven track record of working across a variety of departments

Responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO, as our Engineering Manager you will be responsible for:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of developers, DevSecOps engineers and testers.
  • Provide coaching, feedback and professional development to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that aligns with company values.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set clear goals, and provide ongoing support.

Project management & release planning/delivery

  • Oversee the planning, prioritisation and execution of projects, and define the scope of each release.
  • Coordinate the on-time delivery of key roadmap items across multiple development teams.
  • Identifying risks and bottlenecks, and proactively find solutions to address them.

Continuous improvement and quality assurance

  • Work with the engineering and product teams to identify risks and bottlenecks, and proactively find solutions to address them, ensuring that this information is clearly documented.
  • Review and monitor each release on an ongoing basis to identify areas for improvement in both the release process, and in the engineering and product practices.
  • Support the work of the CTO, Principal Architect and Head of Cyber Security to ensure we are working towards our strategic objectives, and meeting our compliance and technical requirements.
  • Implement and maintain KPIs that allow us to track and communicate the overall health of engineering business while ensuring that work readied for release is of an appropriate quality.
  • Facilitate clear communication across teams, ensuring alignment on goals and expectations, and manage stakeholder relationships proactively.

About you

You will be passionate about what you do, and keen to experience new ideas and develop further, with a drive for innovation and performance. This position is one of our lead roles and has a strong management component requiring:

  • You are likely to have a Bachelor’s degree. You may also have postgraduate technical qualifications or industry specific experience.
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience in an engineering lead or management related role.
  • Broad experience of modern software delivery including cloud (e.g. AWS)
  • B2B software company experience
